Hey Reader, Last week, I shared why choosing a theme for 2026 is one of the most powerful things you can do right now. Your theme becomes what guides everything in your life for the year to include your goals, routines, and decisions. Here are some examples of themes I shared. You can use one of these as your own or use them to help you brain storm of something that fits who you are: Today, let’s go a level deeper. 1. Start With What You Wanted This YearLook back at 2025 for a moment.
These questions reveal your emotional and energetic needs. Build your theme from the answers to these questions. If you craved breathing room, a theme like “Less Rush, More Life” makes sense. Your lived experience is the biggest clue. 2. Choose a Theme That Resolves a Pain PointYour theme should solve a problem you’re tired of repeating. Here are common patterns we deal with a lot in this stage of life:
Your theme is not a slogan. 3. Make Your Theme Feel Like a Direction, Not a DestinationA theme isn’t a goal you can check off. It’s a direction you walk in. It guides you. For example:
Your theme should gently guide your choices not create added pressure to you. 4. Test Your Theme With This One QuestionAsk yourself: 👉 If I lived by this theme for the next 12 months, what would change? If the answer excites you, scares you (in a good way), or feels like relief: If the answer feels like more obligation, pressure, or perfectionism: 5. Put Your Theme Where You Will See It DailyThemes fade when they live in your head. Here are easy ways to embed it into your year:
Your theme should become a constant quiet reminder. 6. Remember: Your Theme Can EvolveYou don’t need a perfect theme today. If you choose “Steady Growth” in January and by April it shifts to “Slow & Strong,” that’s okay. You’re allowed to refine. Your Turn: Start Brainstorming Your 2026 Theme Try filling in this sentence: 👉 “2026 is the year I… ________.” Whatever you write in that blank will reveal the direction your theme wants to take. I’ll be back next week with a guided exercise to help you finalize and lock in your 2026 theme. Let’s build a year that supports the who you’re becoming. 💛 Be you, be focused, be well! Keep flourishing, Shanna |
Helping midlife moms finally feel enough so they can stop overthinking, take action, and build a life that includes them too.
Hey Reader, I almost didn’t go on a walk with my family the other day. It didn’t feel important enough. I had other things I could have been doing at that time. And honestly? It felt easier to just skip it. Everyone else could go and I could get some things done at home. I was still going to be doing something; just not taking a walk. The truth is this: Most midlife moms don’t struggle with motivation. They struggle with decision fatigue. Should I do this activity instead of that one? How long...
Hey Reader, Welcome to Quarter 2! It is very hard to believe we are entering the second quarter of 2026. It is April. There’s something about turning the page into a new quarter that can either excite you or make you feel anxious. Which side are you on? This month is a chance to keep going with intention. Last month for me wasn’t about doing everything perfectly. It was about being present enough to notice the moments that actually matter. I had quite a few of those with everything that went...
Hey Reader, The newsletter is a little behind this week. Well, I am going to blame it on the snow. If focus feels harder for you lately, I want you to hear this clearly: It doesn’t mean you’re lazy. And it doesn’t mean what you’re working toward won’t ever work. If you are like me and in midlife, you are carrying a lot. When we sit down to focus now, our minds won't focus on only one task. They spin through everything else: Our kids. Our spouse. Our parents. Our siblings. The errands. The bills.The...
